Problem is that at least 75% percent of people that someone claims they use bot.. they don't, there aren't that many bots around really.. I know 8-9 and there shouldn't be much more so I don't get it what is the all panic for zzz. Get some skills before you QQ about bots.

While I'm as concerned as anyone about all this bot rampage, they are not going to be able to farm champ points with AFK bots. You need to be a 1200 guild vs a 1200 guild, you won't keep your 1200 long after several losses, and you will lose to even other 1200 guildsellers that aren't running AFKbots. Some lame build that abuses bot interrupts, maybe. But full AFK teams need bad players to farm and 1200+ doesn't cut it.
Oh yes they can and oh yes they are. Im not saying any names or guildnames but its happening right now every day. With 6 c-range guilds you can easily manip the ladder to keep each guilds rating without going on obs.
If you were keenly watching obs about a month ago you might have noticed that 2 guilds accidentally did go on obs. There were 7-8 matches in a row with them farming champs. You rarely see it though!
Well , although there are many bots around in every pvp place , Rezz Anna Nicole is pointing out a nice thing : many people just believe their opponent is bot because he does rupt all your bar ( or most important skills ) ( Of course , it's hard for a human to keep rupting 1/4 cast skills )
But , the problem is that some people ( especially eles or necros ) have a bar which can be easily rupted . Last time in Ra , guy called me bot because i kept rupting parasite , barbs , rez , etc .... Point is that , by making threads and threads about bots , and not having solution given , everyone believe there are bot everywhere , and the situation will continue ( check that guy who believes a bot can make you do everything in HB , micro etc .. ).
Also , an other problem getting annoying is like : In RA or HA , you keep rupting your opponent = you re a bot . You rupt your opponent , with missing some = you're called like " noob mesmer , fail rupter , ..." , so ..

The problem is, there is so many botters out there that is just criminalises the good players, and there are some. But the bot problem just HAS to be given a hardline, IP banning from the game will eventually come to pass if Anet want to keep the game fair and square.
The use of any bot in GW is both detrimental to the user of the bot and the games community in the long run.
I don't see how people can use a bot in PvP and still enjoy playing, where is your reward for your own skill and effort. If you use for example an interupt bot and win some matches, when you come to face someone else also using a bot you will eventually be in stale mate with them bots interupting other bots, it's ridiculous.
Just play the game as designed, any infraction on this should in my opinion result in lengthy denail of access, and eventualy permanent bans for repeat offenders.
For the Games Admin to let bots go so largely ignored is not acceptable for the honest customers and potential new customers it has.
There should also be a crackdown on all the ladder manipulation I see on observer mode, with half teams entering and resigning straight away to decrease their rating and rank.
It's obvious what is going on, so do something about it make this artifical gaming environment a fair and honest place for all to enjoy as designed.
I agree with Rezz and I've said this before. There aren't as many bots as these QQers make out to be. I play RA HA AB JQ and FA and I don't encounter these bots. I encounter great players who happen to have skill and if these QQers had skill they would know how to handle them. ) It's called mantra of "RESOLVE". )
There is that then there are the people that can instantly turn to throw a dshot at you instantly after using a 1/4 cast skill on a monk they had to turn to while wailing on a messer, consistently after a number of times.
Being forced to take MoR because of a bot is not kosher.

You think there are only 8-9 bots? Seriously?
Wow, people really don't know what's happening, huh?
Let me try to lay them out for you (only the publicly accessible ones) -
Mesmer Interrupt Bot
Ranger Interrupt Bot
T-Spike (syncs spikes)
PvP Enemy Party Window (Tells you the professions, skills, enchants, hexes, etc. of the enemy party and one-click targets).
JQ Bot
Boreal Chestbot (runs chests with lockpicks, identifies and sells items, etc.)
Hero Speedbooking bot (speed books EoTN for title rep points)
Vanquish bot (soon-to-be released bot that vq's for you with your heroes)
Title Package bot (switches your title and between NM and HM based on your area)
Jitte Farming bot
Bot Toolbox (does....a lot).
Follow Bot (for use with 2 accounts running. Follow bot will follow the main account to help with vanquishes or dungeons)
Stygian Veil Trapper (trap farms veil in HM, IDs weapons, sells everything except r9 weapons, gems, lockpicks, dyes, and it's own ID kits)
HA Infuse Bot (replaces Infuse monks in HA)
Destroyer Core farming bot
RA Mo/W Bot
LDoA Deathleveling bot (deathlevels for your LDoA title)
All-Around Bot (uses alcohol, party items, and sweets)
Mount Qinkai Vanquish Bot (farms faction)
Elite Monk Tome farming bot
Elite Rit Tome farming bot
Discordway Vanquish Bot
Dragon's Nest Bot (farms gamer points)
Dragon Arena Bot
Rollerbeetle Racing Bot (uses skills and racing pattern to win/place in Rollerbeetle)
9 Rings Bot (farming Lucky/Unlucky points, buys new tickets when you need them, keeps the client active while afk'ing to prevent the game from shutting down)
Asuran leeching bot (commonly used with A/E or W/N farming bots to allow your main account to leech your bot account)
And that's not all. There are many other bots listed in this thread that are also publicly released, and many more on the way. That is just a small sample of about half of the publicly released bots currently being used.
By current download and traffic estimates, at least 5,000 players currently bot. It is also highly likely that they bot on more than one account and even more likely that they bot on more than 2 accounts. And that is only an estimate of publicly released bots. Private bot usage could drastically change the number.
For the last time, this is a serious issue.

I was in Zos Chivros the other day & saw "player" named Xxx A. Then 20 seconds later I saw Xxx B, 20 seconds after that I saw Xxx C. I stayed there for a half hour or so, while watching I saw every letter of the alphabet after that "Players" name up to P every one was a N/Mo....thats ALOT of bots...

You are aware people already do this right? Granted i don't believe it's botted but i'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to do.

not to anet it would seem. 9 days and counting this thread has been asking for a response. (again no official forums = epic fail)
for people who are still laughing about all of the people QQ'ing in this thread, the jokes on you.
i will restate the obvious:
Quote:
i have watched the ranks of the bot sites swell over the last couple months. i will guess that for every 1 that signs up.. 10 do not... and for every 1 of them.. they tell at least 2-3 friends... who again start the cycle...
there is no question why there has been a noticeable increase in botting in the last couple months...
anet went over the line destroying established gameplay instead of adding new content to change and balance the game.
so all the people that was laughed at for QQ'ing.. just said screw it.. and adapted...
how do i personally know?
because my neighbor has been setup as a bot server farm, and is running them like a madman since 2/27-ish.
and when the truth of the matter is:
Quote:
I think part of the problem that people don't understand with botters is that we're not dumb, farm-oriented people. And we're not closed off, either. If you know where to find us (which isn't too hard), we're very open about everything.
We don't bot around-the-clock. For the most part, we don't bot on mains. And, most importantly, the people behind the scripts are intelligent. Until ANet implements some sort of hash-checking feature, bots will just keep getting smarter and overcome anything ArenaNet throws at them.
I mean, even a hash-check would be simple to beat. Excessively simple.
here is where my opinion kicks back in:
so the botters aren't ragin pimple faced 13 year old nerds and anet IS condoning it by not addressing it, as the amount of bots grow exponentially.
well that wraps up my daily rant to keep the thread alive to see if anet will ever 'man up' to their clients concerns, that may or may not, make them look bad.
because i feel that by not saying anything at all, makes anet look like shit!
The problem is, there is so many botters out there that is just criminalises the good players, and there are some. But the bot problem just HAS to be given a hardline, IP banning from the game will eventually come to pass if Anet want to keep the game fair and square.
But IP bannings aren't fair though. Not only can they be changed, a lot of innocent users can be caught in the crossfire, especially if in a place with free internet access. It won't change anything.

Naa, it can be done safely: consider time, crosscheck trade history, chat history etc.
Im pretty sure you can be safe that 99.9% of the banned are deserved, for the few caught in the crossfire it can be always be reverted.
The only problem is while botting is not acceptable i fear that removing any more player from this game will kinda kill it.
So yea, removing bot, try to remove the reward they reaped and if you must ban but remember that this game need players.

Would you rather have a lessly populated game where everyone can trust each other and have a good time or a game massly populated by wankers running bots and thinking they are actually good at it while people wanting to test their skills suffer.
Personally, I feel a hard line has to be taken and SOON to discourage this behaviour. The botting has to go somewhere, they wouldn't bot without something to gain, if all those gains are lost in 1 click....kinda puts things in perspective. The people running bots like idiots are people I don't want to play with.

Agreed. Forget IP banning, go for game code banning like Blizzard did recently

Considering how long this thread is now, I'm tempted to suggest that Anet will not respond to this thread.
In general....I just don't think they care anymore. Look at how often Anet employees respond on GW2Guru threads with half the number of views this thread has had. They simply no longer care about GW1. They've moved on.
think I mentioned something to that effect a while back, yet no one seems to listen to me.
anyways there is little that they can say that we will believe at this point. They have moved on and care more about a game still in development than one that is currently live. There is not much that they will do with the tiny amount of resources left for this game.
I believe there is a saying that goes--changes the things I can and accept the things you can not change, and give me the intelligence to know which is which.

maybe the thread needs to be moved to the GW2 forum seeing we have already been told in another thread they go where there is more activity.
but seriously based on some of the listed bot programs its pretty clear why its being done and there is no one to blame but Anet themselfs. revert loot scaling, increase drop rates on rare items and event items, and reduce the grind of a few titles and the need for the bots has been reduced greatly. also before anyone cries that will just screw the economy, as if its not already screwed up.
